Client: Provider of containerised solar PV solutions with lithium-ion battery storage

Target countries: Zambia, Malawi, Madagascar, Tanzania, Kenya, etc.


  • Development of an analytical framework and analysis of the mini-grid market potential in the whole region for the purpose of prioritising the countries.
  • Identification of potential sites in prioritised countries in cooperation with local governments, NGOs, donors, big corporates with outgrower schemes, etc.
  • Assessment of the sites according to defined selection criteria (e.g. distance from the grid) and according to socio-economic criteria, including current energy consumption, energy costs, projected energy demand, current income, potential for productive power use, etc.
  • Concluding load profile for selected villages.
  • Financial modelling.
  • Identifying and mobilising local and international partners, who are able and willing to work with the selected communities on productive power use and village organisation.
  • Advisory services with regard to a professional business model, including development of reasonable power tariffs in consideration of required IRR of investors and affordability of power consumers.
  • Identifying funds for the company and its projects (including impact investment funds, venture capital funds, challenge funds, etc.).
  • Facilitating the communication between the German company and potential clients, as well as funds.
