Contracting (energy supply contracting, finance contracting/leasing, and energy performance contracting).
Energy efficiency services.
Investments in renewable energies.
Power trading, and trading of flexible loads.
Grid stabilisation and smart distribution grids.
Comprehensive desk research and interviews with many municipal utilities.
Preliminary conclusions in regards to applicability of these approaches in South Africa.
Good practices for selected approaches: district storage solutions, power supply contracting for tenants (‘tenant power model’), and investments in renewable energy systems.
